Back
out at ArrowHead
this weekend with Bill and Jason to put in a couple flat pedal
laps. I got there early to hang up some SORBA OMBA info on the
Kiosk. I forgot to print out a Map to post up. Wile I was messing
with that several people showed up to ride that I had never seen
before. I preached a good sermon to all of them about the local
SORBA chapter, OMBA
(Ocmulgee MountainBike Association) and the benefits of being
a member. The one point they all were sold on was that SORBA
Card holders get in ArrowHead Park on Beautiful Lake Tobosofkee
Free of Charge. That means it would only take 10 trips to ride
there to make your $30.00 registration fee back. I ended up handing
out 5 membership applications.
This
was my Buddy Jason's last Ride with us. He scored his Dream Job
as an engineer for HONDA
research and development (R & D). He's moving away next week.
We had a fun ride and even doubled back to do a few of the down
hill sections more than once. Jason noticed a couple of dirt piles
at the top of the first double track down hill. He shaped a lip
and landing within minutes and was jumping the 6' double.
Saturday
night we all went out on the town. We took our better halves out
to Chili's, Starcadia,
then bowling til after midnight. The Go cart rides at Starcadia
in Macon were a Blast. But at $6.00 a ride that only last 5 minutes,
it was a little pricey. The food at Chili's
was great, I had the chicken club soft tacos. Of course I was
the designated driver since I do not drink. I bout threw my arm
out Bowling. I'm not the best bowler and only managed to break
80. The computerized scoring system at the bowling alley displays
your bowling balls speed as it hits the pins. Soooo as usual us
MEN had to change the whole game into Ball Speed Challenge. My
max ball speed was 19 MPH Jason topped the night with a 19.5 MPH
bowl. ALL

I
have been pedaling my butt off ! trying to ramp up for the 13
Hours of Santos in Ocala, FL. I have ridden every day for
the past week. Tommorow is an off day and I will be tapering the
rest of the week leading up to the 13 Hours of Santos next weekend.
I have some bike repairs / upgrades I have to get done before
the race and I will update ya'll on that later in the week.

Still
puttin in the sidewalk miles. Manage to put in a total of 50 miles
since my last post. What a waste of some good knobbies. I'm grinding
down my MAXXIS tires with all this paved riding. My front tire
is a MAXXIS
IGNITOR 2.3. It is still in good shape. I chose the IGNITIOR
To steer my rig because it has small luggs (knobbies). I think
small lugs work well for a front tire. On the rear I like a tire
with large lugs to support all the weight that is on the rear
of a bike. Presently I'm running a MAXXIS
HANSVENTURE 2.3 on back. It was designed by Hans
Rey and apparently MAXXIS quit production because I no longer
see it for sale on their web site. I will be looking to get a
new Rear Tire soon.

BACK
in The SADDLE! My first official "dirt" ride
since my injury was last Sunday night at ArrowHead.
I did two laps and it was HOT! I had forgot how much I love to
ride Arrowhead. At the end of my first lap I was about to climb
up behind the Pavilion when I came up on a doe and her fawn. I
did not want to ride too close and have the deer attack me. I
tried to shoo them off but they just seemed to linger. I opted
to just skip the grass climb up behind the pavilion and avoid
any confrontation.
Today
I was able to take a long lunch and go for a sidewalk/backroads
ride. It was close to 100 degrees. I put in some good miles.

Ok,
so I know ya'll been hate'n on me for not posting. I have been
very busy behind the scenes of GeorgiaMTB.
I'm finally all switched over to the new domain. http://www.thorntondrafting.com/Bike/Trail-index.htm
will no longer exist after October of this year. So again if you
have sourced any data from my old blog please update your links.
I
switched my web space host from Register.com
to GoDaddy.com.
It is cheaper and I had already bought the GeorgiaMTB domain from
GoDaddy.
