Getting all packed up for our trip up to Lawrenceville, Ga. The hotel is about 20 miles from Fort Yargo State Park. We'll be leaving tomorrow after work so there will be no time for a Pre-Ride. I'll just get up Saturday mornin and Start the Xterra at 8:00am and follow the arrows.

EarthDay (Tuesday) I rode a total of 41 miles by combining my ride to and from work with a long ride I took at lunch. I swam a dozen laps in the pool tonight, just taking it easy and resting up for Saturday. I'm getting excited! It will be different but fun racing in a full kit!

I've gone and done it now, I registered for the Xterra Off-Road Triathalon. Next Saturday at Fort Yargo State Park being put on by GoneRiding. I will be in the Male 40-44 Group. 1/2 mile swim, 10 mile mountain bike, and 5 mile run.

So today after work I had time to try the bike n run legs of the Xterra. The Thomson Trail is almost exactly 5 miles in length so I chose to do some laps there. Two Laps on the bike then one lap jogging. It's been a while since I ran so I wasn't sure how I would do. The Bike went well although it took a little longer than expected, the run was slow and steady but I managed to run the whole distance. My total time compared to last years Xterra results puts me in contention for last place. So just like most other races it looks like I will be battling to not come in last place in my age division.

For the ride and run I only had water and Lime Sports Beans. I love those Lime Sports Beans, I have to hold myself back and only eat a few at a time. They are like concentrated, chewable, Gatorade pills.

I Love These Things!

Beautiful afternoon for a swim/ride! I was brooding all day at work wanting to get out and just GO! I set my mind to swim 1/2 mile then jump on my bike and ride 10 miles. I just had to figure out what to wear.

I wasn't sure of wearing my lycra/spandex bike shorts with a pad while swimming. I've never worn spandex in public without baggy shorts over. So what the heck Go for it huh? It was not a pretty sight but I donned my lycra OMBA shorts and dove in!

With the water temp at 71 I struggled for the first couple of laps to regulate my breathing. The swim felt great for the remaining 25 laps. I side stroked, butterflied, backstroked, and dogpaddled the 1/2 mile (28 laps) in 30 minutes.

I got out and staggered my way to the front yard were I had my bike transition set up. I slung my shoes and jersey on and took off. Whoa! DUDE! I'm riding down Houston Lake Road, in Daylight, in plain view of everybody in SPANDEX! What!? OMG! I completed 11.3 miles in 50 minutes! It Felt Sooo Good!

Pool Temp 86 Degrees!
First Swim of 2008

Finally Warm enough to swim in the pool. We heated it a couple days this week and the water temp was up to 86 Degrees. After reading Renee's Blog today I wanted to figure out how many laps I would have to swim to complete 1/2 mile. She Swims the 1/2 Iron swim distance, (1.2 miles) in 43 laps with a time of 42 minutes! I just want to swim the XTERRA swim distance (1/2 mile). Our pool is 48 feet, 1/2 mile is 2640 feet so thats 28 laps.

Odometer: 528.5 Miles
