Got
plenty of time in the saddle this weekend. A total of +50
Miles! I rode by myself for +3 hours on Saturday at Dauset.
My front derailur got F'd up (more about that later) or I
would have done more. Today I met up with a group from Middle
Georgia at Dauset and struggled to keep up with them. I had
a great time, It's always fun riding with a group. We did
Huff-N-Puff in both directions. I went down hard on some rocks
after tapping a tree with my Handle bar end. We did Two Long
laps. My legs were hurtin by the time we were heading back
to the parkin lot. I had an Ice cold Chocolate Milk and Banana
waitin for me in the car, Yummy!
I
got some good advice from Mark D of Body Tech Fitness today.
He clued me in on staying hydrated wile riding. I have been
just riding witout carrying water and looping around to my
water bottle. I'm going to mount a water bottle cage on my
bike this week and start staying more hydrated on my rides.
I'm sure it will make a big difference. With the hot weather
coming soon and me training for races like 6 Hours of Dauset
and the Ocmulgee Adventure Race its the Smart thing to do.
I
got a new 256 MB MP3/Fm tuner player. Its a Creative
MuVo Tx FM. Its really cool. I have been wanting to get
one. I bought it a Wal-Mart for 53 bucks. It has Built-in
FM radio and recorder, Super-fast USB 2.0 , Integrated voice
recorder with built-in microphone, Drag and drop for songs
and data files between your computer and the player 5-band
custom equalizer and 4 presets (Jazz, Rock, Pop and Classical),
Displays ID3 tags for song title, Reversible LCD for left
or right handed operation, Stores data files such as photos
and presentations, Up to 15 hours of MP3 continuous music
playback on one AAA battery.
Well
about my Front Derailur. I whacked it on somthing at Dauset
on Saturday right at the beginning of my ride. It would not
shift into the big ring on my first lap and was grinding in
the other rings. I stopped and worked on it after my first
lap and got it shifting again. It was all F'd Up. So I stopped
by Bike
Tech Macon on the way home and got Loucious to order me
a XT. It should be in by the Middle of the week so I can get
hooked up before the race next Sunday. Loucious Put his "Midas
Touch" on the F'd up one and got it shifting like a champ
again but its all warped looking, Loose and rattlie.

Had
to work today at my day job. Only Four hours Overtime though.
I set off the Alarm while entering the building at 7:30 am
this morning. Nuthin like setting off a building alarm before
you've had your first cup of coffee to ruin the day. I was'nt
gonna let it get me down. I stayed focused on the task at
hand knowing I would be riding "Huff-n-Puff"
out at Dauset
Trails by 1:30.
There
were not as many people riding out there as were last weekend.
Although I encountered many more "Hikers". Also
had to dodge a couple of dogs on the trail, the dog and I
were both close to getting hurt; WTF? There are signs all
over the place that say "NO PETS ALLOWED". In the
parking lot, I over heard one of the pet owners say to some
one who mentioned to them pets were not allowed that "Well
they have'nt givin me a warning yet so I'll keep coming out
here until they do". Well there are reasons no pets are
allowed. For the safety of the Pets and other people, not
to mention the animals caged up on display at the main compound
there. Ok I'm off the soap box for now....... Of course the
one day I don't have the Camera I come across some beautiful
deer. Big Deer, they were as tall, if not taller than me and
I'm 6'2. I think I was more scared of them than they were
of me. I was within 20 yards of them and could have gotten
some nice photos. I saw them on my first and second lap.
OK
my brother made me laugh out loud today. Couple of weeks ago
wile we were camping we were talkin about a Funny skit on
Saturday Night Live. Will Farrell and "More Cowbell Baby".
"I got a Fever, and the only Rx is More Cowbell Baby"...
Anyway my brother found A "Google Video" of a High
School play re-enacting the skit. Check it out....My
Brother Tom.

I've
ridden my Bike to work a couple of times in the past week.
Still averaging 14.0 mph for 8.0 miles one way. I need to
take the camera and get some pics of my commute across Warner
Robins. There are a few Jumps and Drops but the most dangerous
parts are crossing Green Street, Watson Blvd, and Russell
Pkwy during Rush-hour.
I've
been trying to get a Custom
Jersey started for the Ocmulgee Bicycle Association (OMBA).
It's gonna be a minute before we get those since they have
not made it past the preliminary stage. I'm waiting on final
word from the "powers at be" about making the order.
It's somthin to do with Making the logo space for sponsors
"High Dollar" so we can get the price per jersey
to a minimum or nill. Also chosing a vendor + tweekin the
OMBA logo.
I
ordered a new Jersey from Maxxis that arrived today. I got
the BMX style, Talk about "Poseing to the MAX!"
I may not be fast and might not land any dirt jump 360's,
but I will be style'n.

Rode
out at Dauset
Trail's Today. It was almost hot @ about 88 degrees. I
didn't carry any water with me on the bike so I made loops
out and back to the parking lot "Pit Area". I tried
to cover all of the trails since I don't know the race route
yet. Just wanted to familarize myself with the place. I was
pre-riding the course for the upcoming GSC
Race #2 that will be held May 7th there. I did the GAP
race there last year and came in last place in Sport men 35-39.
(Results).
That's not gonna happen this year! The trail is fairly flat,
most climbs are short and sweet. Very fast downhills in some
places. I tried to carry as much speed as I could through
the downhills and corners. My Maxxis
Minions really "Hooked Up". I was able to just
lean into some fast corners and not break at all. Momentum
is your friend when you're riding a 40 lb bike. I'm also signed
up for 6 hours of the 6/12
hour race held there on July 22. That will be interesting
as I only rode for 3 hours today and was pretty much spent.
I will have to pace myself for 6 Hours of riding.
I've
been "Doseing up" with a Creatine
supplement for the past month. I'm taking GNC's Creatine
Burst. It does not mix up as well as the previous, cheaper
brand I bought. It does taste better though. I beleive it
is helping. I really felt like I was riding stronger today.
It also helps with recovery after exercise. I also ate a goo
packet for the first time ever. "Honey
Chocolate" by "Honey Stinger" It was delicious.
I had received it in my loot bag at the East Macon Race couple
weeks ago. Well they sold me on it and I'm ordering a whole
case of 24 for $28.80.
Kudo's
and a Big Shout out to Mallie
for getting the Ocmulgee
Adventure Race web site up and alive. I'm really looking
forward to that big adventure. My brother and I are gonna
brave it "Two Man" team style. We are in the process
of gathering all the gear we will need.

Took
a weekend off the bike and went camping with family. My sisters
family, My Brother his wife, my daughter and I all spent the
weekend at Little
Ocmulgee State Park near McRae, Georgia. We got there
just before dark on Friday. I had to set up camp with my head
light on. I put my 6 man tent up "inside" my
10 man tent. I knew we would be getting rain on Saturday.
I've learned from past experiences that a Soggy Tent makes
for Miserable camping. It worked like A Champ, The inside
tent remained dry as a bone. We were able to do some Canoeing
and paddle boating Saturday Morning. The lake there is almost
totally choked out with "Hydrilla".
For lunch I ruined my diet with a couple of grilled Italian
Sausages, mmm mmm. My brothers Weather
Alert Radio went off automatically just after lunch to
warn us of impending thunderstorms, then a Tornado watch.
We were able to "batten down the hatches" and head
up to the Shower (block) Building before the Hail and thunderstorm
arrived. After the rain stopped about 6:00 Saturday night
we went on a Guided Night Trail Hike. There is a nice ~3 mile
nature trail along the lake. A very Nice family trip. We always
make the best of it, even when it rains. The next Family trip
will be the weekend of June 16th for the Helen Mountain Bike
Festival and GSC race. See yall there!

Great
day of Racing! The First Race of the Georgia
State Mountain Bike Championships. Held at East Macon
Park, put on by the Macon, Georgia Chapter of SORBA,
OMBA (Ocmulgee
Mountain Bike Association).
Even
though I volunteered for duties on race day I received the
e-mail from our OMBA prez without an Assignment. To my suprise
when I arrived an hour before my race I found out they were
short handed. You Wouldn't have noticed.... the race was a
complete success. I heard many many compliments from all over.
I
was pre-registered so I got a cool Swag Bag. It had a nice
Glass with the SORBA and OMBA logos on it, A Gatorade Lanyard,
A pack of "Honey
Chocolate" Goo, and a cool Maxxis
Sticker (my tires of choice).
I
was #698 and finished 32nd out of 36 racers in the Sport Master
Men 30-39 class. I was totally stoked that I Smoked 4 of those
"spandex wearin, clipless pedal pushin, aluminum can-ondale
ride'n, nuckle draggin, camelback sucka's!" All that
training to just not come in last place paid off.
I
started out at the front of the pack through the BMX course
and around the back of the ball fields. Once we reached the
Nasty climb we were all bunched up and I was bangin the rear
tire of dude in front of me as we were going up but he just
wasn't carrying enough speed and I had to get off and push.
I got over to the side and almost the rest of the pack passed.
I pushed it the rest of the way trying to keep up. The dust
from the trail as we were all together looked like fog and
was in every breath. It cleared up as the pack spread out.
I was ready for a drink once we reached the feed/water zone
at mile 2.5. Jill was there ready to hand me the water bottle,
good thing cause I had told her I probably wouldn't need a
drink on the first lap. (I wasn't carring any water). I should
have drank more high quality H20. I made it up the nasty climb
on my second lap around and was feeling pretty good. By my
third lap I was worried I was de-hydrating. I was feeling
week and well SPENT. After crossing the finish line. I devored
two oranges eating them like apples and downed a Powerade
Option. That took away the qweezy, woozy feeling I was
having. All in all I had a great FUN race. I was very supportive
of those passing me and polite to those few I passed.
